Our Brand-New Stationary Hub
Dear Friends,
We've told you about our fabulous Mobile Shower & Hygiene Response team driving our large mobile shower and laundry trucks. But have you visited our Workforce Hub lately? If so, you would have seen our brand-new stationary hygiene hub!
Located on the northeast corner of the lot, this converted Dutchman trailer offers showers, laundry services, and hygiene items to the public on weekdays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In addition, there are two adjacent permanent public restrooms, open during the same hours.
After a long day's work with our Community Beautification team, our interns often returned after our other shower services had closed down for the day. We responded to these needs and beyond, providing more direct services to our East Portland community through our stationary hygiene hub.
We hope this hub provides our interns and unhoused neighbors with helpful daily services including warm showers, clean clothes, and a pathway to further support and empowerment.
Cultivate Intiatives…at the beach?
The Cultivate Initiatives Community Beautification team is working harder than ever and expanding into new areas of Portland where our help is sorely needed - such as the beaches on the Columbia River!
Our newest contract is with the Port of Portland, where we offer a range of services, and although it is a new area for us, our team has been doing an incredible job pioneering it. Led by our beautification lead Jay and beautification apprentices Chris and Jen, the team has been focusing on cleaning up the areas around Portland Airport, particularly 33rd and Marine Dr.
Not only is the team in charge of picking up trash and debris (and even breaking down abandoned boats) but Jay and his crew are reaching out to our houseless neighbors around the Port, offering them resources and working towards getting them connected to support and empowerment that can help them no matter what their living situation currently is.
Keep an eye out for our Cultivate Initiatives Trucks next time you are in the vicinity of Portland Airport, Swan Island, and Cascade Station. We are thrilled to expand our coverage territory further each year!
On KATU News
What makes Cultivate Initiatives unique?
We get this question often, and this KATU News story answers that question. Relationships are at the core of everything we do. All our services and supports flow out of a relational community focus. KATU News did a wonderful job highlighting stories of empowerment and transformation. Stories shared by Gary (Mobile Shower & Hygiene), Sandra (Mobile Shower & Hygiene Operations Coordinator), Caleb (CI Executive Director), Greg (Community Supporter), and Jessica (Peer Support Specialist). These stories are only possible because of the community and the valued relationships we have with one another.
