Let’s talk about
Menlo Park Safe Rest Village
Dear Friends,
The Menlo Park Safe Rest Village (SRV) is a village-style shelter in East Portland that offers a safe, stable space for adults experiencing houselessness. Part of the City of Portland’s Safe Rest Village program, the Menlo Park SRV is operated by our team at Cultivate Initiatives.
This village is comprised of clusters of units, community spaces, and amenities to help our Neighbors feel comfortable. We provide staffing 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help support our Menlo neighbors. The Menlo Park SRV offers more than shelter to a neighbor. We value that the village is a community space that provides access to care, creativity, resources, and recovery.

How We Do It
In keeping with Cultivate Initiative’s ethos, we are for and with each Neighbor in the SRV program and beyond. In caring for the whole person, we provide ongoing resources, specialized referrals, and community support. Neighbors can gain access to health insurance and quality healthcare from volunteer health professionals. Menlo Park SRV Neighbors are supported to develop healthy habits and overcome barriers to employment, such as obtaining important documentation.
We are thankful for the village staff's hard work and ongoing support of our Neighbors. The Menlo Park SRV is also made possible by partnerships and collaborations with many local organizations and entities, such as the City of Portland’s Safe Rest Village team and the Joint Office of Homeless Services. We appreciate you all for making this life-changing work possible!
What’s the Impact?
Since opening in December 2022, we’ve assisted 18 SRV Neighbors in successfully signing leases and moving into stable housing. Each neighbor we see moving into a new chapter of their lives is a victory and incredibly meaningful to our team.
